Backyards are where some of the best family memories are made — pool days, pizza nights, games in the grass, and evenings around a fire pit. But if you ask a child what their dream backyard looks like, their imagination usually goes far beyond what adults think of first.
That’s exactly why we created the Kids “Design Your Dream Backyard” Contest.
We want to see what kids in our community imagine when they think about the ultimate backyard space.
Will it include a pool with a giant slide?
A treehouse village?
A sports court?
A pizza oven?
Maybe even a waterfall or a lazy river?
There are no limits — just creativity.
This contest is a fun way for families to dream together about outdoor spaces while giving kids the chance to show off their ideas.
How the Contest Works
Kids create a drawing of their dream backyard using crayons, markers, colored pencils, or anything they like.
The drawing can include anything they imagine in a backyard, such as:
Pools
Slides or water features
Treehouses
Fire pits
Outdoor kitchens or pizza ovens
Sports courts
Gardens
Playgrounds
Anything creative they can dream up
Once the drawing is finished, parents simply take a photo and submit it.
How to Submit
There are two ways to enter the contest:
Option 1 – Facebook Submission (People’s Choice Award)
Parents post a photo of their child’s drawing in the comments of the official contest post on the Living Rock Pools & Hardscapes Facebook page (Link).
Please include:
Child’s first name
Age
The drawing with the most likes on Facebook will win the People’s Choice Award.
Option 2 – Email Submission
Parents may also submit entries by emailing a photo of the drawing to:

Drawings submitted via email and facebook are eligible for the Living Rock Choice Award.
Who Can Enter
Children ages 4–12
Families located in the Charleston, Berkeley, or Dorchester County area
Prize: Backyard Fun Kit and Gift Card
The winning family will receive a Backyard Fun Kit and a $100 VISA Gift Card.
We’ll also feature the winning designs on our Facebook page.
Contest Timeline
Submissions Open: March 10, 2026 Submissions Close: March 22, 2026 by noon
Winner Announced: March 24, 2026
Voting for the People’s Choice Award will happen directly on Facebook through likes on the comment submissions.

At Living Rock Pools & Hardscapes, we believe the best backyards are designed around family life. Whether it's pool days with friends, birthday parties, or quiet evenings outside, outdoor spaces often become the center of family memories.
Kids tend to imagine these spaces in the most creative ways — and sometimes their ideas inspire adults to think differently about their own backyard.
We can’t wait to see what our local kids dream up.
